A visit to my in-laws backyard
There are so many things we can draw. The possibilities are endless. I visited my in-laws backyard and I loved the fall scene. The trees and fresh air makes for a relaxing afternoon. Most of the time I travel with a sketch book and a pencil. On the pictures below I set up my easel and used my oil paints on a canvas.

Stella Jurgen Sketching in Myrtle Beach, U.S.A.
Hi from Stella Jurgen. During Easter our family decided to take a road trip to a warmer place. In Canada the winter is very long, so we drove to South Carolina, U.S.A. to enjoy the warmth for a couple of days. A trip to Myrtle Beach helped me relax and enjoy the beach weather.

A Trip to San Francisco
Hello everyone, I visited San Francisco in April this year. The flowers were in bloom and the air was so warm comparing to where I live here in Canada. I had the chance to sketch some of the view as we visited the city by foot. Here are some pencil drawings. I am looking forward to meeting you at the Lisbon Symposium.

Stella Jurgen Sketching in Margarita Island, Venezuela
To escape our cold winters in Canada, we usually take a hot vacation down South. This time it was in Margarita Island, Venezuela. While roasting in the heat, I painted some view with acrylics on paper canvas and also created some drawings of the location.

Stella Jurgen Sketching in Chicago, U.S.A.
I live in Ontario, Canada. Last summer I visited Chicago for the second time, and on this trip a decided to really enjoy the amazing architecture mix. Walking through the streets of Chicago makes me feel really small. I tried to capture the feeling and greatness of the city.

The view from a coffee shop besides the local subway system. It was very windy, so I could only take a few minutes and rush trough the drawing.

Stella Jurgen Sketching in London, England
I had the opportunity to visit London, England the summer of 2010. I enjoy painting outdoors, but I thought it would be very difficult to bring back some oil paintings that take months to dry, so I decided to capture the moment with pencil drawings instead. This was my first time drawing urban sketches, and that was a good experience for me. There was nothing more comforting than sitting down and drawing the sites while resting for a few minutes.
